![]() Kitchen Islands GalleryIn a recent survey, commissioned by George Robinson, 100 people were asked what dream pieces of furniture or equipment people would like to have in their kitchens; top ranking went to Islands. Islands can come, in true bespoke fashion, in any number of shapes, sizes and materials, fit into most given spaces, be under or over-lit, and incorporate almost any kitchen appliance. They increase working area, can double the storage facility of a kitchen, and with inspired design, add informal dining areas – breakfast bars, if you will. An island can be the central feature in a kitchen and provide the ‘wow’ factor – it is no surprise that as more people are spending more time in their kitchens, not just cooking but also entertaining in them, the Island has become an integral and enduring element of good kitchen design.
